  • The Scarlet Pimpernel is an adventure story (with a charismatic "action hero") set in a time of historical importance, with undercurrents of sacrifice, deception and loyalty. It opened on Broadway in 1998 to rave reviews - "A lavish musical, blazing with adventure and bursting with resplendent music”.

The Scarlet Pimpernel Synopsis - The year is 1793 in the middle of the terrible and bloody French Revolution. What can be done to save these innocent folk from the jaws of Madame Guillotine? One man who seems to defy the insurmountable odds stacked against him does. With his small band of men, he plans & executes daring rescues. He is only known by his calling card, a red star shaped flower, the Scarlet Pimpernel.

Marguerite St Just the beautiful French actress has arrived in England as the bride of Sir Percy Blakeney an English aristocrat. She has captivated the hearts of Sir Percy’s friends. A visitor arrives from France, Marguerite’s former lover Chauvelin. Chauvelin boasts of being the French Governments most formidable zealot, he believes the Pimpernel is an Englishman moving within the social circle of Marguerite and her husband.

Marguerite secretly has grown to respect the ideals of the Pimpernel and sees him as a true hero, (whereas her husband along with his friends have changed into ridiculously useless fops only interested in the latest fashions).

In spite of the change in her husband who is nothing like the man she married, Marguerite still loves him and sticks by him until the obsessed Chauvelin forces her hand, to betray the Scarlet Pimpernel, but is this enough to send the Scarlet Pimpernel to his doom…..whoever he may be.
