Cheltenham Operatic and Dramatic Society
Committee Guidelines
What does the committee do?
CODS is run by a voluntary committee made up of current members of the society. Their role is to oversee all aspects of CODS, covering everything from the setting out of membership details and the selection of upcoming shows, to liaising with the theatres and then managing these productions from end to end, ensuring their success with cast members and audiences alike.
A wider network of numerous subcommittees also exist to assist the committee members with their work. The society benefits from an excellent social committee who organise a number of events throughout the year to help bring members of the society together, regardless of whether they are involved in the current production or not.
We also have regular sub-committees who meet to discuss and help put forward suggestions on future shows to the main committee, for both the musicals and the plays that the society puts on. Every year at the AGM in March, our main committee steps down and any CODS member can put themselves forward for any of the roles beforehand. If multiple members are vying for the same position on the committee, the candidates are asked to submit a small written piece about themselves to illustrate how they believe they can assist CODS, and help move the society forward, in their chosen role. At the AGM itself, the candidates are then voted on by any paying member of the society and the candidates with the highest votes for each role form that year’s committee.
If any of this sounds of interest to you and you are keen to get involved with a group who are the absolute heart of the society, please contact one of the current committee members for further information
